Did someone say Mother's Day? Or Mothers' Day? Hope all the mothers in PWL-land had a wonderful day yesterday. And all the children celebrating their mothers as well. And even Sean whose birthday fell this year on Mother's Day. A banner day. And so, our photos are of a few of the mothers in the crowd.
We actually have a lot of news to report, even some that were previously consigned to the not-for-the-weekly-letter pile. In that regard, first off, the news is that Claire has accepted a new job. She will be moving to Wisconsin this summer to start teaching in a larger school near Oshkosh. Closer to Mom and Dad who won't have to drive through Gary to watch her concerts. Way to go, Claire!
It's also graduation season. Bryan, Kara's husband who's a software engineer with a music pastime, turned that interest into a degree from Berklee College in music production! Their daughter Sage is in the same school, but two years behind. Way to go, Brian!
And, it's drama season. Elsie, Maura's daughter, had the lead in her school play, Matilda. We went down to see her, and she was terrific. How does she remember all those lines? Steve, her father, said she knew all of them when she tried out! Way to go, Elsie!
And, it's baby season. When we were down in Rhode Island, we saw Mary Forte, Kathleen, her partner Richard, Dan and his family who were all heading to the play. Why didn't we see Patrick or his partner, Jen? Because they were having a baby, a boy named August. Way to go, Patrick and Jen! And welcome August.
Oh, and Kathleen is pregnant as well. She's due in August, the month, not be confused with her new nephew. Way to go, Kathleen!
It's job season too. Annie turned in her notice, due to bow out of Door Dash early next month. She is in Arizona this week for work, but heading back up to Montana this week to join Sankar in Glacier Park. Way to go, Annie!
And, it's travel season. Margaret and Andrew and their bundle of joy took a red-eye flight for Germany and are loving it. They are staying with friends, their old next-door neighbors, and taking in those sites where Andrew spent part of his semester abroad. Sounds wonderful, and of course, way to go you guys!
A different kind of travel includes Kiernan taking more steps, including in his new sneakers! And loving it. And let's have a way to go for Kiernan.
We have a couple of ways not to go as well. Mary got food poisoning this week, and there are no photos to share. It was not a pretty sight, but lasted only a day, or a night rather. And poor Leonor threw out her back. On Mother's Day. Also, in this category, Andrew and Lur's sewer backed up, while their driveway was getting torn up. Sorry, all.
Enough of the ways to go theme. Especially because it's hard to stretch that into the talk about sore muscles from getting yards and gardens in order for the season. We were in touch with David to find out the kind of geraniums we saw on his front porch last year that looked so good. Ivy geraniums, and we now have a couple of hanging baskets as well. Mowing, mulching, weeding, planting. It's hard work, but it pays off, and it means that we have many more months of warmth to bask in all the views from our porches.
